Children who are taking music lessons they practice over and over until they know the music by heart. They are not thinking about the finger movements, just play the instrument from memory.

Too many automatic steps can lead to errors.

If  you have a task that is repeated over and over again, it becomes easy to overrun, or go past the last item you wanted to do the task on.

Make it easy for people to undo the last action, or preferably a sequence.
