This project management course covers the fundamentals: purpose, methodology, initiation and execution. We look at the basic framework of any project and how important it is to plan ahead. Concludes with an exam.
Welcome to this course on Project Management. We will learn the basics, the purpose, the importance, the methodology and the execution of a project management plan.
How do we define a project? How does it differ from a program? Using objectives, attributes and examples, these flashcards will provide a basic understanding of what we mean when we talk about project management.
Before we begin any project, it is imperative that we construct a project plan. This will set out the aims and scope of the task, as well as an idea of the necessary materials and deliverables that will be required.
Our methodology gives us the procedural framework to work within the project. We define the people and organisation involved, as well as the products, processes and even documentation templates that will be used.
In a more detailed look at our project plan, we answer the questions of why, what, who, when, how and, importantly, how much will this project cost us? Schedules, expenditure, hierarchy and other crucial issues are addressed here.
Take a look at this mind map. This will give you a more visual idea of how a project can be separated. We move from planning to implementation, controlling and finally, winding up a project within a well conceived plan.
Let's look at some hypothetical scenarios. These questions present different stages of a project and ask, if you were in charge, what steps you would take to successfully move the project along to the next phase.
