• Personal unconscious- temporarily forgetten and repressed memories

• Collective/Transpersonal unconscious- most controversial; latent memories from our ancestral or evolutionary past.

• Bolwby- Attachment theory, monkey, wired and terry cloth

• Archetypes- images and thoughts that have universal meanings across cultures and and may show up in dreams, literature, art, etc.

• Persona- the outward face we present to the world. Conceals real self; the conformity archetype

• Anima/animus- the mirror image of our biological sex. The unconscious feminine side in males and the masculine side in females. Anima=male; Animus=female

• Shadow- the animal side of our personality, similar to the id in Freud.

• Self- provides sense of unity in experience. Ultimate aim of individuals to achieve a state of selfhood.
