• It is a group of metabolic diseases in which the person has high blood glucose

• Glucose is the primary source of energy synthesis of cells

• Inadequate production of insulin

• Body's cells do not respond properly to insuline

• There are three types of diabetes

• Type 1

• Type 2

• The body does not produce insuline

• Also known as insulin-dependent

• Gestational

• Immune system attacks beta cells

• Usually diagnosed in young adults

• Insulin production is not enough for proper function

• Body's cells do no react to insuline

• Being overweight, physically inactive and eating the wrong foods
