It starts in the right side of the heart. Blood that is high in carbon dioxide, passes from the right atrium to the right ventricle.

2.From there (right ventricle) it leaves the heart via the pulmonary artery and travels to the lungs.

3.In the lungs, blood releases
carbon dioxide and collects oxygen.
Gas exchange takes place in alveoli.

4.Blood that is high in oxygen returns to the heart (left atrium) through the pulmonary veins.
