Hey guys, welcome to your study page! Each week I will upload a short quiz for you to do as preparation for your prelim exam. Make sure you have a calculator handy.  They won't take you long, I promise!! I will cap them all between 15 and 20 mins!! Hopefully they will help you to identify the areas you need to work on and help you to increase your speed. After your 1st attempt at each quiz, please send me screenshots of the questions you got wrong. If you got 100% also let me know :)(I am trying to work out how to get direct feedback from your attempts) The first few quizzes are quite easy - I will be gradually increasing the difficulty. In our tutoring sessions, we will be working on longer response question types.

Just a reminder... Your exam is on EVERY SINGLE THING that you have learnt since theSTART OF THE YEAR! But this great! It will challenge you and force you to grow. Do not look at it as a struggle, but as an opportunity to link and combine all the knowledge and skills you have acquired throughout the year :)

You must be confident in your knowledge and ability when you walk into the exam room.  CONFIDENCE COMES WITH PREPARATION! So, how do you prepare? Well, you must do at least ALL of the following: Complete the Test Yourself AND CHALLENGE for every chapter (spend more time on the ones that you find the most difficult) Go through EVERY exercise in your textbook and do examples of each question type Sit at least two PRACTICE PAPERS under TIMED conditions. MARK your answers and see where you went wrong - you must LEARN from your mistakes and REVISE your weakest topics.  Make a LIST OF SILLY MISTAKES that you make along the way. Vow to NEVER make those mistakes again. You cannot afford to throw marks away.

Do the easier questions first! These generally tend to be towards the start of the paper. 2 marks for an easy question is worth the SAME as 2 marks for a hard question.  You want to sweep up as many marks as you can within the first half hour.  Flag any difficult questions and come back to them at the end. Keep an eye on the clock and be conscious of your progress throughout the exam. Check that you have answered every question. Do not miss any pages. Keep in mind the list of silly mistakes that you made in your preparation. Do not repeat them in the exam - double check your answers. Make sure you include units if applicable (e.g. cm, seconds, degrees). Answer the question in the format that is asked of you (e.g. SIMPLEST FORM, EXACT VALUE [which normally means surd form], INDEX FORM, SIGNIFICANT FIGURES, SCIENTIFIC NOTATION, DECIMAL PLACES, NEAREST WHOLE NUMBER, DEGREES AND MINUTES...). If a question has multiple parts (e.g. a, b, c, ...) that are related, generally the solutions to the earlier parts will help you to solve the later parts.
