Hi there!    Welcome to the course planning your holiday.  On the left side of the page you can find the pages for each lesson. Throughout these lessons you will receive the right amount of practice and vocabulary to complete the final assignment. For your final assignment you will make a video in which you present your own brochure about a city in an English speaking country. Think about which city you would like to explore, because you will use the same city for each lesson.  Lesson contents:  Lesson 1: Listening practice and create your own quiz! You are going to watch 'An introduction to Britain'. There are eight question. Now you are going to create your very own quiz!  Step 1: Select a travel guide video from Youtube about the city that you have chosen in the introduction.  Step 2: Watch the instruction video on how to create a quiz and get started! Please share your quiz number (on the top of the page of your quiz) with the entire class and with me via email.    ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Assignment 3:  The last assignment of this lesson is to review your peers quizzes.  In your email you have received the quiz numbers. On the ESLvideo home page you can enter this quiz number. Make at least three quizzes and give them a thumbs up or down! Review the quizzes according to the schedule that I have sent you via email, so that everyone's quiz gets reviewed. You can also leave a tip and/or a top if you like.

Hello again!   Welcome to the second lesson of this course. Today you are going to analyse a travel guide and write a review! As extra practice we will have at a video. This video shows you the steps of writing. Link: writing steps Before you start writing your own review, let's also have a look at some writing tips. The link: Review writing tips. Also take a look at the list of requirements for writing a review. Is everything clear?  Now that you know what needs to be in a review, we are going to take a look at a review on The Lonely Planet Guides. The review is quit long, but skim through and check if all the requirements for a review are there! The link: Review lonely planet guides.    ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Assignment 2:  In order to write your review you need to analyse your book/film/article or travel guide first. For this assignment you will use a London travel guide. The link: London travel guide.    Now ask yourself the following questions:  After seeing this guide, do I want to visit this city?  Do the layout and the visuals appeal to me?  Is the language understandable and clear?  Does it give me all the information that I might need?  You can write your answers down and brainstorm your ideas. Perhaps making a mindmap is helpful or make a list of pros and cons.    ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Assignment 3:  You are (finally) going to start writing your review! Make sure that you write your review in GoCongr under the button 'create' on the main page and write it as a note. Then you can share it with the group that you are in! Hi everyone!   Welcome to the third lesson of this course. In this lesson you will create your own brochure.  You can choose the way you want to make your review today. Everybody makes Assignment 2, but you can choose whether you want to create a plan before you start (assignment 1) or evaluate your product afterwards (assignment 3).  So, you do at least two assignments, good luck!    ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Assignment 1: Optional! We are going to begin with brainstorming! Before you start creating your brochure, we are going to organise our ideas into a mind map. Make sure that you create your mind map in GoCongr under the button 'create' on the main page. Then you can share it with the group that you are in!   ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Assignment 2:  Now that you have prepared yourself well, you can start with creating your own brochure. However, these is a list of requirement that need to be there. Link: things to include in a travel brochure The brochure needs to be at least 6 pages long  Use as much of your own words as possible Maximum of four images per page Once you have finished read it again to see if there are any mistakes.   ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Assignment 3: Optional! Finally, you are going to give each other feedback. Partner up with someone and send each other your brochure. Give each other feedback by using a rubric. Link: the rubric .  Then adjust the feedback that you have received and hand it in via email.

Hello again!    I hope the video has given you enough confidence to do your final assignment! Luckily you do not have to present live, but you get the chance to record yourself. This way you can do your speech over and over until everything goes smoothly. You also don't have a big crowd in front of you!  For your final assignment you will make a video in which you present your brochure. Use the information from the previous lessons and prepare yourself well!  3-4 minutes long  All the requirements from the brochure  Film yourself and talk English  Be as creative as you can!  Edit the video if necessary  Finished? Hand it in via email.
