The structures of control in the Nazi state
  1. Government
    1. The nazis had complete control of national and local government.
    2. Religion
      1. Hitler believed that religion was a threat to the nazi's control over people's minds, so he tried different ways to reduce the power of the chuch over people.
      2. Culture
        1. Hitler ordered 'nazification' - the imposation of nazi values - on all aspects of German life.
        2. Work
          1. Dr Robert Ley, head of the German Labour Front boasted that he controlled workers lives "from the cradle to the grave"
          2. Education and Youth
            1. The lives of young people were controlled both in and out of school to turn them into fanatical nazis.
            2. Terror
              1. Germany became a country where it was unsafe to do or say anything critical of the government
              2. Propaganda
                1. Josef Goebbels controlled the Propaganda Ministry, which aimed to brainwash people into obeying the nazis and idolising Hitler.
