Physics
- Light
- Light travels at a speed of 300000000 m/s, it is an energy wave that is part of the electromagnetic spectrum.
- Opaque - something which will not allow light to go through it, i.e. a brick wall
- Transparent - something which will allow light to go through it, i.e. a window
- Translucent - something that will allow some light to go through it, i.e. tissue paper
- Shadows
- caused by opaque objects blocking the light, with only light going past at the edges, forming an outline.
- can appear clear and sharp or fuzzy around the edges.
- the larger the light source compared to the object the fuzzier the shadow will be.
- Refraction
- light refracts towards the normal when it travels from a less to a more optically dense medium
- when light travels from a less to a more optically dense medium it will refract away from the normal
- when light travels through a medium it travels in a straight line.
- when light moves from a medium into another, its speed is changed
