- 15' (Math): Create an anchor chart about possible
attributes (shapes, color, number, size, position, etc.)
- 1h - ELA: Word wall: review, record, meaning,
examples, order. (community, belong,
different, respect and name stamps)
- 30'min: In centers kids will review and
finish Math pages from 15 - 17)
- Monday
- 15' - Circle Time: Welcome/Hangman (Community)
- 30' (ELA): Introduce the "Name Jar" (object)
- Ask students to write their
names on paper and put them in
the jar.
- Read the message on the board and discuss:
"Welcome to Grade 2. We are going to have an
exciting year together! What can we do to
make our classroom a good place to be?"
- Group Work: Create a "Y Chart"
about Y2's class community (Feels
like/Sounds like/Looks like)
- 45' (Math): Introduce new book. Show
kids when and how to use.
- Whole Group: Unit 1 pages 13-14
- Extra Class
- 15' (ELA): Read aloud "The Name Jar"
- Tuesday
- 15' - Circle Time/Mystery Message
- 45' (Math): Game: teacher will choose objects from the
classroom and kids have to decide how to sort the items into
groups. Then, in groups kids create their own sorting rule to
show their frineds.
- 45' (ELA): Google Class - P.W. Name

- Identify and label the
sorting rule
- 20' (Science): Introduce unit 2 (Animals Grow)
- Game: "Finding Your Animal Group" - The
teacher will whisper 5 different animal
sounds for each kid. Then when teacher
says "go" the students will make the sound
aloud and run to the matching sound.
- 25' - Circle Time/ Sharing your Name research
- 25' (ELA): Circle time - Sort a name
from the Name Jar. Ask the
student what they like about their
names. Record the answers in a
chart.

write 3 sentences about what they've
learned using the key words from
board and their research. (Name,
