      2. An expenditure that occurs on a less regular basis and the amounts tend to vary with usage. The timing and amount is unpredictable and is difficult to plan
      3. Discretionary Expenditure
        1. Entertainment
          1. Holidays
            1. Gifts
              1. Upgrades to expensive items (e.g cars, furniture and household electronics)
                1. Premium sports channels/ movie channels
          2. This is spending on non-essential items that we choose to buy. Money should be spent on discretionary items after all essential items or needs have been paid.
          3. Current Expenditure
            1. Capital Expenditure
              1. A new car
                1. A laptop
                  1. Furniture
                    1. A T.V
                2. This is another type of expenditure which is less regular and will not be repeated for a long time. Spending on items that will last a long time or once-off spending of this type is called capital expenditure
                3. Groceries
                  1. Education
                    1. Utillity bills (e.g gas and electric)
                      1. Travel
                        1. Rent/Mortgage
                  2. Some expenditures are continuous and regular. This type of ongoing expenditure is called current expenditure.
                  3. Fixed Expenditure
                    1. Mortgage repayments
                      1. Rent
                        1. Car tax
                          1. Property tax
                            1. TV licence
                              1. Insurance premiums
                      2. Expenditure that involves the same amount of money being spent on a regular basis (weekly, monthly or annually). This payment does not depend on usage.
