- Stress reactions
- Acute: hypothalamus, sympathetic branch of
ANS, adrenal medulla, adrenaline, fight or flight
- Chronic: hypothalamus, releases CRF, pituitary gland,
releases ATCH, adrenal cortex, sugar for energy
- If stress persists: damage to adrenal gland, immune suppression, increase risk of CHD
- When stress is gone
- hypothalamus, activates parasympathetic brand of ANS, adrenal
medulla stops adrenaline, heart rate breathing, rate and blood pressure returns to normal
