Alcohols
  1. Primary Alcohols
    1. RCH2OH
      1. RCHO + H2O
        1. RCOOH
          1. Carboxylic Acid
          2. Aldehyde
            1. Using Schiff Reagent if it turns magenta quickly it's an aldehyde
        2. Heated under reflux with excess KCr2 and H2So4
          1. reflux prevents aldehyde from escaping before it can oxidise to a carboxylic acid
            1. excess KCr2 ensure there's enough agent to fully oxidise to COOH
              1. distilled will give an aq. solution
        3. Secondary Alcohols
          1. RCHOH
            1. RCOR + H20
              1. Ketone
          2. Tertiary Alcohols
            1. RCOH
            2. Oxidising agent
              1. Potassium Dichromate
                1. (Cr2O7)2-
                  1. Turns from orange to green
                2. Test for alkenes
                  1. Add Bromine Water and if turns colourless it is an alkene as alkanes can't add to their structure.
