them.

so can include more
inappropriate language
and sometimes
offensive/graphic scenes.
- Newsround features:
- Colour scheme is green, purple
and black. Two of the three

therefore more visually
appealing. Colours hint at a
younger audience and the
graphics used on the title are
quite fun and interesting
looking, rather than formal and
serious.
- Younger presenters who are dressed in
their casual home clothes to make them
appear easier to relate to and also quite
casual.
- Presents speak informally and often make jokes with the
audience. Less serious and formal vocabulary is used and
the topics are seen as 'lighter'.
- Lots of 'entertaining' stories
and new clips are
shown/talked about in
Newsround, such as stories
like 'new see-through frog
discovered'. The heavier
topics are spoke about
although only briefly and have
been highly censored, Target
audiences is mainly for
teens/young adults.
- Newsround speaks about celebrities and what they are doing with their lives more
than it speaks about topics to do with the economy or world wide political issues as it is
aimed at a target audience who still want to be updated on things, although not to do
with certain topics. Also aimed at people, who because of their age, would not have
such a vast understanding of the world and the way it works.
- The Four C's:
- Mainstreamers; usually the type
of people who tend to like the
latest chart music and current
movies out in the cinema. When
watching the news, they
wouldn't like anything too
challenging or offensive.
- Aspirers; these are
usually the type of
people who view
people they see on
TV as their role
models. They want
to be like them and
see the way their
live their lives as
the way they would
want to live theirs.
Physical materials
and social status'
are what drive
these people to do
well.
- Succeeders; these people believe they are already
established in life and they have been successful. They
think all of this has come with experience so they tend to be
the older audience.
- Reformers; they like media
products that challenge the
‘norm’. They have a tendency to
use new technologies to gain
access and research into new
music or music that exists in
niche markets. Personal growth
and how they can take part in
make social changes as they
view this to be very important.
