- Danish War (1864)
- Denmark attempted to annex schleswing-Holstein. An
allieance with Austria. Denmark was quickly defeated by
Prussia. Holstein was given to Austria and Schleswing to
Prussia.Prussia and Austria disagree over the administration
of the provinces
- Austro-Prussian War (1866)
- Also known as the "seven weeks war" thanks to the efficient Prussian army.
Austria and Prussia go over the administration of Schleswing and Holstein,
Bismarck was able to provok Austria into declaring small indemnity and recognize
prussia's dominancy over the German states. On 1867, Bismarck disolved the
German Confederation. Prussia and other 21 German states formed the "Nort
German Confederation" ruled by the Prussian King and a bicameral legislature
(the "Reichstag") wich represented all the people elected by male suffrage, there
was also the Upper house (the "Bundesrat") which represented the german
states. Bismarck allowed austria and the 4 southern states to remain
independant. The southern states were tied to Prussia by the Zolverein and by
defensive military alliance
