Rockets & Satellites
- Rockets Lift Off?
- The force generated to lift a rocket/shuttle in space requires a great amount of force, and it uses the third law of motion
- As they lift off, they burn fuel and push the exhaust gases downward at a high velocity
- The gases then push upward on the rocket with an equal but opposite force
- A rocket can rise into the air because the gases it expels with a downward action force exert an equal but opposite reaction force on the rocket
- Satellites
- Any object that orbits another object in space
- Circular Motion
- Centripetal Force
- Any force that causes an object to move in a circular path
- Artificial Satellites
- Artificial Satellites are launched my people so that there can be things such as weather forecasts, text messaging or anything like that
- Satellite Motion
- Why don't satellites fall to the Earth because of Gravity?
- Satellite's have a greater horizontal velocity than a ball would have, satellites all around earth
- Satellites in orbit around Earth continuously fall toward Earth, but because Earth is curved they travel around it
