Patterns of reactivity
  1. Metals react with many substances
    1. air
      1. water
        1. acid
        2. Some metals are more reactive than others
          1. oxygen is the most reactive in air
            1. nitrogen is the least reactive in air
            2. the reaqctivity of metals is linked to their uses
              1. metals used for consturction has low reactivity
              2. Many low reactivity metals have been known for hundreds of years
                1. More reactive metals are extracted by electrolysis meaning they only have been discovered in the last 200 years
                  1. oxidised = when a subject reqacts with oxygen to form an oxide
                      1. electrolysis
                        1. acids
