- HOW TO USE
Anmerkungen:
- Second Conditional is used to talk about unlikely or even unreal situations in the present or future.
- to form sentences using second conditional, we use if + subject + simple past (to talk about the situation), subject + would / wouldn't + infinitive without to (for the consequence)
- EXAMPLES
Anmerkungen:
- when the "if" (situation) comes first at the beginning of the sentence, we use a comma
.if clause / consequence.

Negative.
If u were here, it wouldn't have happened.
Interrogative.
If I got sad, would you comfort me?
- when the "would" (consequence) comes first at the beginning of the sentence, we don't use a comma.
if clause/consequence.
Positive.
It would be nice to hang out with my friends today if I had called them before.
Negative.
Today we wouldn't have fun if you weren't there.
Interrogative.
Would you go with me to the festival if I invited you?
- WHAT IS
Anmerkungen:
- Second conditional is the second conditional mode of if clauses in the English grammar. It is used to express a dialogue with a hypothetical sense as in the phrase “If Mathias had the courage, he would go on the roller coaster”.
- RULES
Anmerkungen:
- For the second conditional, the conditional verb is used in the simple past tense and the one in the main sentence is accompanied by the modal verbs would, could, might or should.
- after the "if" we always put the verb in the past tense. When it is "would" it continues in the present tense.
- Always use after "If", the form "didn't" for negative sentences.
