The Linkage System
- The outstanding feature is a distributed set of focal points,
interlinked by paths to form an irregular, usually triangular,
network.
- Its only difficulty in regard to the general
criteria that is immediately apparent is the
concentrations of flows on the links that run
from center to center.
- The foci are each of distinctive chatacter,
and are contrasted to their immediate
hinterlands but rooted in them.
- More important centers can
occasionally be found
thoughout the region, the
geographical center of the
region.

dimensions and special local systems of movement.
- Densities tend to fall off away from the nodes, and particularly
away from the links, toward the interior of the triangular
blocks, where there may be major open space.
- Centers on the periphery may be satellite comunities, connected by their links
into the whole regions, but surrounded by substantial open space.
- The principal perceptual difficulty will be to create a sufficient
number of recognizable ondes to cover the region.
