- They have a bad reputation because they
are high in calories and low in
nutritional value
- Protein
- The nutrient almost everyone has plenty of
- Provides energy and helps
to build, maintain, and
repair body tissues
- Fat
- Without any healthy fat,
your brain and nerves won’t
work well.
- Provides substances needed for growth
and healthy skin, enhances the taste and
texture of food, requireds to carry, and
“fat-soluble” vitamins throughout the
body

- They don’t give any energy, but they do help break
down and release energy from protein, carbohydrates
and fat

- Helps perform a wide variety of
essential functions in the body
- Fiber is is indigestible but helps digestion
