Beschreibung

This chart will display the lobes of the brain and brain functioning as it relates to our everyday lives. The brain is a complex organ that controls thought, memory, emotion, touch, motor skills, vision, breathing, temperature, hunger, and every process that regulates our body.

Anmerkungen:

  • Each of the hemispheres has been divided into four lobes: frontal, parietal, temporal, occipital. Each lobe of the brain carries out the bulk of certain functions that we do daily in our lives. Interestingly, each of our various body part has a unique portion of the primary motor cortex devoted to it such as your thumb. Let's dive into the lobes of the brain!
  1. Frontal
    1. Parietal
        1. Temporal
          1. Occipital
            1. Occipital Lobe
            2. Cerebellum
              1. Brain Stem
                1. Exhaling
                  1. Exercise

                    Anmerkungen:

                    • When we exercise our heart rate increases, supplying more blood flow to the brain. The increased heart rate also increases our breathing, making us breathe harder and faster. As a result, more oxygen is supplied in our blood stream causing more oxygen to reach our brains. Research indicated that physical exercise increases neurogenesis in the hippocampus and is important for learning and memory.
                    1. Fresh Air

                      Anmerkungen:

                      • Our brain structure and mood improve when we spend time outdoors. Brain scans show that the time spent outdoors by participants was positively related to gray matter in the right dorsolateral-prefrontal cortex. The superior dorsal and lateral part of the frontal lobes in the cerebral cortex. The superior and lateral part of the lobes are involved in the planning and regulation of actions as well as what is referred to as cognitive control. The study controlled for confounding factors-exercise, sunshine, fluid intake, and free time. Please note: many psychiatric disorders are known to be associated with a reduction in gray matter in the prefrontal area of the brain.
                      1. Trees

                        Anmerkungen:

                        • Through a process called photosynthesis, leaves pull i carbon dioxide and water and use the energy of the sun to convert this into chemical compounds such as sugars that feed the tree. But a by product of that chemical reaction oxygen is produced and released by the tree. it is proposed that one large tree can provide a day's supply of oxygen for up to four people.
                        1. Functions

                          Anmerkungen:

                          • My research is focused oxygen to the brain, however there are many other function the brain stem is responsible for: Breathing Body Temperature Digestion Alertness/Sleep Swallowing
                        2. The Affects the Lack of Oxygen has
                          1. Behavior, emotional, and cognitive abnormalities
                            1. No social life!
