American Colonies
1. New England Colonies: New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut. Rhode Island
  1. New England: founded on religious freedoms by Puritans and Separatists (originally Anglican)

  2. Economy: cash crops, plantations (tobacco, rice, indigo, later cotton), slavery
  3. Politics: elected representatives (representative democracy), rigid hierarchy
