1. magnetron produces microwaves

   • waves travel through a wave guide
     • to the stirrer and it blows the wave
       • the rays bounce from wall to wall until they enter the food
         • water waves pull the X-rays in different directions
           • friction causes the food to warm uo

2. microwaves cannot go through metal but they can go through class, ceramic, paper, or plastic.

   • microwave ovens do not have any heating element.
     • foods cook quickly and most do not have time to brown.
       • turn dishes several times during cooking period

3. warms up leftovers faster and retains nutrients and tastes better.

   • use defrosted meats immidiately
