Matter Cycles
- Oxygen Cycle
- Producers release oxygen as a result of photosynthesis.
- Most organisms take in oxygen from the air or water and use it for their life process.
- Carbon Cycle
- Most producers take in Carbon dioxide gas from from the air during food-making.
- As consumers eat producers, thet take in carbon molecules.
- Both producers and consumers then break down the food to obtain energy.
- When the food is broken down, producers and consumers release carbon dioxide and water into the environment.
- When producers and consumers die, decomposers break down their remeains and return carbon molecules to soil.
- Nitrogen Cycle
- Bacteria in roots nodules fix free nitrogen into simple compounds.
- Consumers eat nitrogen compounds in plants.
- Decomposers return simple nitrogen compounds into the soil.
- Soil Bacteria release some free nitrogen into the air.
