2. Micotubules
  1. Made from Alpha and Beta Tubulin fibres
  2. Largest of the protein fibres
  3. They involved in intracellular transport, cell division
  4. Motorway system to all areas of the cell
3. Intermediate Filament
  1. Middle Size
  2. Made of tetramers formed of proteins
  3. Mechanical strength and structural support
  4. Rope like, across the whole cell
  5. Involved in cell-cell interaction

POLYMERISATION
1. Nucleation (lag phase)
  1. Small sunits may form together to form oligomer
2. Elongation (growth phase)
  1. Subunits only add on one side of the molecule (+) end
3. Steady State (equilibrium phase)
  1. Where the rate of subunit addition and loss are equal
    1. Called the critical condition =Cc
  2. Accessory proteins increases the speed of the process
4. Requires lots of ATP
