  1. Social roles
    1. Identifiers that distinguish people from each other. Each role comes with their own set of expectations
      1. Examples can include, friend ,the role of an employee son/daughter, coach and team-mate.
        1. Each role comes with their own expectations
        2. Gender roles are another example of social roles.
          1. Many cultures have very set roles for females and males.
            1. E.g. girls playing with dolls and boys with trucks, or men working and women staying at home.
          2. Beahviours
            1. Appropriate actions in many situations and how others act around them.
              1. Learnt and developed from a very young age
                1. Examples include: being a good listener, considerate, generous
                2. Values and beliefs
                  1. What is important to an individual.
                    1. Assist in the development of an individual's identity.
                      1. Formed through human interaction.
                        1. w/ people like family, friends, the media and society.
                      2. Relationship skills
                        1. Knowing how to behave in a relationship and what is expected.
                          1. Requires understanding and mutual respect.
                            1. Ability to: resolve conflicts, communicate openly, how to treat each other and manners and etiquette.
                            2. Communication skills
                              1. Having the ability to successfully communicate with different types of people.
                                1. Written and oral communication
                                  1. The way we communicate differentiates depending on the age and relationshop of the other person/s.
                                  2. Refers to the expansion of skills and behaviours concerning how we interact with others
