what extent do you agree?
- INTRO: Reword the statement to show that you understand what it is asking of you
- AGREE: Atheism is growing and religion is in
decline. In a 2004 survey 44% of British people
said they didn't believe in God...
- AGREE: The arguments for atheism are much more convincing. It
seems more logical to not believe in God. This may be due to
scientific explanations being more evident in society.
- DISAGREE: Religious responses are actually convincing
enough. For example, the response to the problem of evil
makes a valid point. It regards humans having free will.
HICK argues God wanted humans to be truly loving so
they had to develop this quality themselves.
- Response to science is also compelling.
Nothing amounts to proof that God doesn't
exist. Religion explains why the conditions
for scientific explanations came about.
Stephen Hawking's hesitancy to God can be
seen as supporting the possibility of God.
