Anmerkungen:

  • Renaissance means rebirth or revival in French, and it was a time of great prosperity. Many artists rose to fame during that time and it still affected the modern world in almost every subject. 
  1. Ancient Greece and Rome

    Anmerkungen:

    • Ancient Greek and Roman ideas heavily influenced the Renaissance and was brought back by scholars during that time. It affected almost every subject from arts to architecture during the Renaissance, so I connected it next to the center with many other things linked to it.
    1. Arts

      Anmerkungen:

      • Arts was one of the subject that the Renaissance period was most famous for. Many great sculptors and painters were active and they created some of the most astounding works of arts every made in history. Many arts during that time were influenced by the Classical ideas, especially the sculptures, in which they would create lifelike sculptures similar to the Greek times. I placed it here because it was influenced by Ancient greek and roman times and it was also one of the subject that the Renaissance period was most famous for.
      1. Medici Family

        Anmerkungen:

        • The Medici family was the ruling family during the Renaissance in Italy and they were patrons of many artists during that time. One of the most famous Medici was Lorenzo the Magnificent. He was the patron of many famous artists like Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo. I placed them here because they promoted arts during the Renaissance and was the patron of many artists.

          Anmerkungen:

          • The Medici family were patrons of many famous artists. Patrons are similar to sponsporship, because they would help support the artists and also provide them with what they need to work. Patrons during the Renaissance are wealthy and powerful people like the Medicis. I placed patron here because the Medici family were major patrons during that time.

          2. Perspective

            Anmerkungen:

            • During the Renaissance, artists created paintings and artworks with different perspectives. Perspectives can be used to emphasize what is important in the painting or just used to create a beautiful view in the artwork. Some of the perspectives in the artwork might be from the sky, from the ground, or from a person on a street, and it provides a different view and style for every painting. I put it here because it was related to art during the Renaissance. 
            1. Michelangelo

              Anmerkungen:

              • Michelangelo was one of the major figures during the Renaissance. He was a painter and sculptor from Florence, which was where the Renaissance originated. At 15 years old, he worked for the Medici family, who were an important and powerful ruling family during that time. I placed Michelangelo here because he was one of the most influential figure during the Renaissance in terms of art. Some of his most famous art works and sculptures like David still exists today and is known as one of the most important sculptures ever made.
              1. Donatello

                Anmerkungen:

                • Donatello was a  sculptor during the Early Renaissance. Some of his famous works include Equestrian statue of Gattamelata, Judith and  Holofernes, and David. David is also the work of another famous sculptor called Michelangelo, and he also influenced Michelangelo in terms of sculpting. I placed him here because he was an artist and also he influenced Michelangelo.
              2. Raphael

                Anmerkungen:

                • Raphael was one of the most important figures during the High Renaissance. He was an Italian painter and architect, and he was influenced by Leonardo da Vinci who was his teacher. Some of his most famous paintings and buildings still exists today and his work is still admired. I placed him here because he was an artist and also an architect.
                1. Leonardo da Vinci

                  Anmerkungen:

                  • Leonardo da Vinci is one of the major figures during the Renaissance times, and is probably the most famous one. Some of his most famous works include the Mona Lisa, The Last Supper, The Vitruvian Man, etc. He influenced many other artists and scientists during that time like Raphael who was his student, and he is considered a genius because he was a scientist, musician, inventor, and basically any other jobs you could name. I placed him here because art was one of his most famous subject.
                2. Architecture

                  Anmerkungen:

                  • Architecture was one of the many subject that was influenced by ancient Greek and Roman ideas. For example, some Renaissance buildings had special roofs and buildings that were inspired from classical ideas. Architects such as Brunelleschi 
                  1. Brunelleschi

                    Anmerkungen:

                    • Brunelleschi was an important figure during the Renaissance and thrived during the Early Renaissance. He was a designer and built the dome of the Florence Cathedral. I placed him here because he was an architect during the Renaissance time which was influenced by classical ideas.

                      Anmerkungen:

                    2. Science and Astronomy

                      Anmerkungen:

                      • Science and Astronomy was one of the main subjects during the Renaissance. There were many famous scientists and astronomists, and their ideas were affected by classical ideas. They would think differently and it led them to many new discoveries that the world has never known about. I placed it here because it is related to ancient greek and roman ideas.
                      1. Galileo

                        Anmerkungen:

                        • Galileo was an Italian physicist, astronomer, and mathematician during that time. He was one of the scientists that was influenced by Copernicus and his theory of the Sun
                        1. Power of the King and the Church Challenged

                          Anmerkungen:

                          • During the Renaissance, Galileo and Copernicus had the theory that the Sun is in the center of the solar system. During that time, the Church taught people that everything in the universe revolves around Earth, but Galileo and Copernicus thought otherwise and created conflicts between the church. It also challenged the powers of the Church because people had different beliefs. 
                        2. Copernicus

                          Anmerkungen:

                          • Nicolaus Copernicus was a mathematician and astronomer. He was most famous for the idea that the Earth is not the center of the solar system but instead the Sun is, and all other planets orbit around it. His idea made the church and the pope mad. Even though a lot of people disliked his theory, it still influenced many of the scientists and astronomers during that time in the Renaissance. I placed him here because he influenced science and astronomy during that time with his theory of the Sun being in the center of the solar system.

                            Anmerkungen:

                            • Medicine was an important part during the Renaissance because during that time towns did not have sanitation as good as the modern world. During the Renaissance, some scholars would study medicine by dissecting bodies, but that caused many mistakes because they used animal bodies. 
                            1. Vesalius

                              Anmerkungen:

                              • Vesalius is a scientist that affected medicine and the study of anatomy during the Renaissance. Unlike other physicians during his time, he didn't study Galen for a long time. He observed and dissected things by himself, and found out that Galen used animal bodies for studying, which resulted in errors when applied to human medicines. I put him here because his studies influenced and helped the medicine during the Renaissance.
                            2. Literature

                              Anmerkungen:

                              • Literature was one of the most famous subjects during the Renaissance. Some of the famous writers wrote about politics, and some were about new ideas or discoveries. Famous writers and poets during that time also created dramas or other shows for the royals to watch. I placed it here because it was related to the Renaissance and classical ideas. 
                              1. Shakespeare

                                Anmerkungen:

                                • William Shakespeare was a playwright, poet, and actor. He was one of the most famous writer and poets in history, and he also created many famous dramas like Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, and Hamlet. His dramas are still famous today and it was performed to many royals. I placed him here because he was an important playwright  and had influence on literature during the Renaissance. 
                                1. Petrarch

                                  Anmerkungen:

                                  • Petrarch was an Italian scholar and poet during the Renaissance and was one of the first humanists. Petrarch helped with the rebirth of Classical ideas by collecting classical texts and made them available to scholars. People considered him as the founder of Humanism and also brought back classical ideas. I put him here because he was related to literature since he was a poet and also brought back classical ideas. 
                                2. Non-Religious Theme

                                  Anmerkungen:

                                  • Some of the subjects like Medicine and Science have a lot of non-religious theme. The influence of the classical ideas also had non-religious themed effects like the improvement of medicine. I placed it here because ancient Greek and roman ideas have non-religious themes.
                                  1. Change

                                    Anmerkungen:

                                    • The rebirth of ideas from ancient Greece and Rome caused changes in the Renaissance period. People had new ideas and also created new inventions based on the classical ideas. Changes was one of the most important things about Renaissance because by changing the way people thought they were able to find out new inventions and new discoveries. I placed it here because ancient greek and roman ideas changed the Renaissance. 
                                  2. Rebirth of Classical Ideas

                                    Anmerkungen:

                                    • A unique thing about the Renaissance was the rebirth of classical ideas. Scholars and priests brought back ideas from classical times like the Greek and Roman times. The ideas were used in many subjects like architecture, medicine, arts, literature, etc. Some of the most famous artists or scientists during that time was also influenced or studied classical ideas, so it was an important part of the Renaissance and why it started in the first place. I placed it here because it relates directly to the Renaissance period.
                                    1. Humanism

                                      Anmerkungen:

                                      • Humanism was a philosophy that people studied during the Renaissance. Its mainly about everyone has the ability to achieve greatness and balances between religious faith. Humanists ideas also tried to use ancient ideas and put them into practice. Humanist ideas had conflicts with the Church during that time because of their different beliefs, but humanism ideas lead people to think differently instead of just believing what was taught. I placed it here because it was related to the classical ideas.
                                      1. Independent Thinking

                                        Anmerkungen:

                                        • Humanism encourages the independent thinking of people and also emphasized individualism.  Humanists had independent thinking because they believed that everyone is important even if your status is low. Independent thinking also changed people's ideas because in other times people just believed what they were taught and what the Church said, so it changed a lot of things in the Renaissance like the idea of the Sun in the center of the solar system. I placed it here because it is related to humanism. 
                                    2. Florence, Italy

                                      Anmerkungen:

                                      • Florence, Italy was where the Renaissance originally started and it was also where the Medici family ruled. Italy was also where some of the greatest geniuses during that time emerged like Raphael, Michelangelo, and Leonardo da Vinci. I placed it here because it was where the Renaissance started and also an important location because it was where some of the most famous figures during that time came from. 
                                      1. Politics

                                        Anmerkungen:

                                        • Politics was not the subject that the Renaissance was most famous for, but there were still many influential politians from that time. For example, Machiavelli is still influencing people today and people still uses some of his teachings in politics. I placed the Renaissance here because it is related to the Renaissance and there were some famous people studying it.

                                          1. Machiavelli

                                            Anmerkungen:

                                            • Machiavelli was a politician, historian, and philosopher during the Renaissance. He influenced many people including modern politicians and wrote many books. He also had many famous quotes that are used today like "It is better to be feared than loved, if you cannot be both." I placed him here because he was a influential politician during the Renaissance. 
                                          2. Printing

                                            Anmerkungen:

                                            • Printing during the Renaissance was improved by Gutenburg. It was important because it helped increase the spread of ideas and other things throughout Europe. Before his invention, many people wrote books by hands, which slowed down the production. When printing came along, information and books were made a lot faster. I placed printing here  because its related to the Renaissance.

                                              Anmerkungen:

                                              • Gutenburg was an important guy during the Renaissance because he invented and improved printing. It improved the spread of information and people used his invention to spread new ideas, discoveries, and it became available to most of the people. I put him here because he invented Printing. 
                                              1. Famous Printed Bible

                                                Anmerkungen:

                                                • Originally, not everyone was able to read the bible because there were no printers yet. But after Gutenburg invented it, it became available to the public. The bible was the first book ever printed and was in Latin. I put it here because it was printed by Gutenburg.
