- Moral Conscience
- Each person has their own set of values
and morals they follow, one could refer
to this as their moral compass.
- One of the many gifts God gave
mankind was freewill, and this includes
the conscious choice to commit evil.
Everyone has the capacity to commit
evil, but thankfully it is a choice that not
everyone chooses to make.
- Moral conscience is described as the following by the Catechism
of the Catholic Church: 1776 "Deep within his conscience man
discovers a law which he has not laid upon himself but which he
must obey. Its voice, ever calling him to love and to do what is
good and to avoid evil, sounds in his heart at the right moment.
. . . For man has in his heart a law inscribed by God. . . . His
conscience is man's most secret core and his sanctuary. There
he is alone with God whose voice echoes in his depths."
- The Good Samaritan
- New Testament
- Gospel Of Luke
- Summary of Parable: This parable is about a traveler, whom may or
may not have been Jewish, was beaten, robbed and essentially left
for dead alongside a road. Both a priest and a Levite pass by this
traveler, whom they both ignore this man in need of help.
Fortunately, a Samaritan passes by this traveler and puts aside their
differences (as Jews and Samaritans didn’t like one another back
then) and helped the injured traveler. This short but powerful parable
is about ethics and the moral highroad this Samaritan took.
- Thus the expression; "Good Samaritan"
- "No Good Samaritan"
- Individualism - Everyone is on their own
- Everyone has their own baggage
- A pessimists point of view on humanity

- Article: "Good Samaritan at Tim Hortons"
- " Article: Looks like the promise of good coffee karma is
bringing out some coffee copy-cats. Just days after a man
paid for the coffees of the next 500 customers at an
Edmonton Tim Hortons, another mystery man made the
same kind gesture in Ottawa. The manager of the Ottawa
Tims store says it's not uncommon for some customers to
"pay it forward" -- buying coffee or snacks for the next
person in line. But Melissa Dass says she's never seen
such a large amount paid before."

- The Parable of the Good Samaritan by Jan Wijnants (1670)
shows the Good Samaritan tending the injured man.
- Social Media
- Social media is a growing outlet for
people, especially youth to voice their
opinions on essentially everything.
- Education systems/ institutions are educating
young people in school about the growing world
of social media, in hopes they use it positively,
and not negatively (i.e. cyber-bullying).
- There are an endless amount of online social
media outlets that majority of people have
access to. With this in mind, one must
remember to think before they type/post,
because everything they say online, be it on
Facebook, Twitter, Youtube etc. will be public
and could potentially have a impact on the
rest of the world. Each individual hast the
choice to make a positive or a negative
impact, which will you choose?
- Honesty
- Definition: hon·es·ty [on-uh-stee], noun, plural hon·es·ties. 1. the
quality or fact of being honest; uprightness and fairness. 2.
truthfulness, sincerity, or frankness. 3. freedom from deceit or fraud.
- Religion
- "He who sins is of the devil." (1 John 3:8)
- The Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC)
defines "lying" as a mortal sin.
- The Ninth Commandment reads: Thou
shalt not bear false witness against thy
neighbour. (Exodus 20:16)
- Being honest is an admirable trait that
every person should strive to posses.
- Catalyst for Good
- EWN Reports: "A NekNomination to
Change the World"
- "South African Brent Lindeque has taken the world by storm after he turned
his NekNomination into a good deed and is urging others to do the same."
- TheSouthAfrican.com
- In an article, Sertan Sanderson wrote "But Brent Lindeque back in Johannesburg decided to
turn the idea on its head, and, rather than committing an act of boozy carelessness shared in
public, decided to do something that would show the world how he cared for those around
him: he filmed himself driving up to an intersection in Johannesburg – one of countless such
urban intersections in South Africa, where homeless people beg – and donated food
(consisting of a sandwich, a chocolate bar and a soft drink) to a homeless man."
- This good deed was done on 5 February, 2014.
- The movie "Pay it Forward" exemplifies this
idea of an idea being the catalyst for good.
- The main concept of this movie was that if each
person does one good dead for 3 people, humanity
would be much better off than it is right now.
