Chapter One - Plot Summary
  1. 1) Nick returned to the Midwest & is writing a book about past evens which happened when he was on the East Coast of USA
    1. 2) He starts his narration with a self-analysis, trying to pin down important aspects of his character
      1. 3) He remembers his dads advice to show tolerance towards others and to reserve judgement
        1. "Reserving Judgements is a matter of infinite hope" Pg 7
        2. 4) Nick Refers to Gatsby as ...
          1. ..."the man who gives his name to the book" Pg 8
          2. 5) Nick displays certain AMBIVALENCE in his dedication to Gatsbys memory.
            1. 6) He is scornful of some aspects of Gatsby's character and behaviour.
              1. 7)he has unqualified admiration for Gatsbys...
