Zusammenfassung der Ressource
Photosynthesis
- Carbon Dioxide + Water => Glucose + Oxygen
- 6CO2 + 6H2O => C6H12O6 + 6O2
- Sunlight is absorbed by the chlorophyll in the leaves
- Water moves into plant by osmosis through the root hair cells
- Osmosis is the net movement of water molecules from a more concentrated area to a less concentrated area through a partially permeable membrane
- TRANSPIRATION
- Caused by evaporation and diffusion
- Affected by; light intensity, temperature, wind speed and humidity
- The process carried out by plants to produce food (glucose)
- Rate of Photosynthesis is affected by the light intensity, temperature and amount of CO2
- Experiments:
- Light intensity- use a lamp and record the number of bubbles by plant in beaker
- Carbon Dioxide- in a sealed bell jar with soda lime in it with a light shining in. Test for starch
- Temperature- the enzymes will be denatured. Test for starch
- The test for starch will tell you whether or not photosynthesis is taking place
- 1. Boil it. 2. Boiling tube with Ethanol. 3. Rinse and add Iodine solution
- Starch present - black/blue colour
- Nutrients required by plants
- Nitrates to produce proteins for cell growth
- Phosphates for making DNA & for respiration and growth
- Potassium helps enzymes needed for photosynthesis and respiration
- Magnesium (a tiny bit) for making chlorophyll
