Jamaica
  1. Primary attractions
    1. Royal palm reserve, Westmoreland parish
      1. Reggae beach, Ocho Rios
        1. Blue mountains, east Jamaica
          1. Problems of Primary
            1. Social
              1. People can get paid little money and become unemployed due to tourism being seasonal. Local people may not be able to afford tourist places
              2. Economical
                1. The money earnt will be decreased as a lot of it will have to be spent on preserving the damaged environment. Building developments pressure people to sell natural land
                2. Environmental
                  1. Due to overcrowding, land may have eroded land and creating noise pollution and other habitat damage may have been caused by exhaust fumes creating air pollution and litter. Releasing sewage waste has killed 1/3 of Jamaica's coral reefs
              3. Secondary attractions
                1. Jamaica fun fish aquarium, Kingston
                  1. Putt 'n' play amusement park, New kingston
                    1. Greenfield stadium, trelawny
                      1. Problems of Secondary
                        1. Environmental
                          1. Over development can cause exhaust fumes polluting the air and overcrowding leads to erosion and habitat damage as it results in litter and noise pollution
                          2. Economical
                            1. More food is imported than produced locally and Large TNCs (Thomas Cook) make most of the money profits go out of Jamaica into MEDCs (just 7% stays) Jamaica is too dependent (20% of GDP) on tourism income so if tourist numbers fell economy would be effected
                            2. Social
                              1. Jobs are often seasonal and are poorly paid. Most money goes out of the area to big companies, not locals. Culture and tradition changes as outsiders arrive. Overcrowding and traffic jams can cause conflict between locals and tourists.
                          3. Solving Primary attraction problems

                            Anmerkungen:

                            • solving
                            1. Footpath erosion in Blue mountains
                              1. Some footpaths are rested using signposts to direct walkers along alternative routes to allow natural vegetation to recover
                              2. Sewage
                                1. In Negril, West coast Jamaica there are strict controls on hotels to control sewage waste. In the Central Blue Mountains Eco lodges & nature reserves set up to spread tourists further around the Island instead of in concentrated coastal resorts & to encourage tourists to value the environment
                                2. Overcrowding, traffic stopping locals getting to work
                                  1. Spread small-scare tourism to other parts of the island and encouraging visitors to explore less popular attractions to avoid honey potting
                                3. Solving Secondary attraction problems
                                  1. More food is imported than produced lovally
                                    1. Locals are encouraged to own farms and grow their own produce to sell to local supermarkets for everyone (tourist and locals to buy)
                                    2. exhaust fumes from people travelling to secondary attractions
                                      1. Advertise eco-tourism and bus travelling to minimise carbon footprint of each tourist and In the Central Blue Mountains Eco lodges & nature reserves set up to spread tourists further around the Island instead of in concentrated coastal resorts & to encourage tourists to value the environment
                                      2. Culture changes and money going out of the area to MEDC'S
                                        1. Port Antonio reduce conflicts between locals & tourists by encouraging tourists to stay in local communities & aims to share culture & encourage closer links. Also allows money to go direct to locals, not TNCs
