Methods and Approaches.
- The Communicative Approach is the ability to
use the language effectively for communication
and develop communicative competence. it
includes a wear communicative approach and a
strong communictive approach.
- This communicative approach is
based on the idea that learning
language successfully comes
through having to communicate
real meaning.
- In this case
learners are
involved in real
communication.
- Their natural strategies for
language acquisition will
be used, and this will allow
them to learn to use the
language.
- Classroom activities guided by
the communicative approach
are characterised by trying to
produce meaningful and real
communication, at all levels.
- Lessons are more
learner-centred, and there
may be use of authentic
materials.
- The origins of the Communicative Approach have
arisen both in linguistics and in language teaching
as a “ reaction against the view of language as a
set of structures”
- The Communicative
Approach places emphasis
on developing the
communicative
competence ,
- For example:the overall underlying
knowledge and ability for language
use which the speaker - listener
possesse
- The traditional method is concerned with the
teacher being the controller of the learning
environment. Power and responsibility are held
by the teacher and they play the role of instructor
(in the form of lectures) and decision maker (in
regards to cirriculum content and specific
outcomes). (Novak, 1998)
- Learning is cheifly
associated within the
classroom and is often
competitive.
- The most common
seating arrangement
used by the
traditionalists is
rows.
- Learning may be
independant,
collaborative,
cooperative and
competitive. The
utilisation and
processing of
information is more
important than the
basic content.
- There are some hints that we have
gathered about the learning
environment and how it effects
student's learning outcomes.
- 1. Keep your classroom design
cluster free. Only have the
resources you are using
ready to access.
- 2. Maximise classroom space
and this helps with
cleanliness.
- 3. Create a strong child-centred
environment with little stress
that enables productive
learners to work to the
brains natural learning
ability.
