- North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)
- Their purpose is “to safeguard the freedom and security of its member through political and military
means.
- Political way= By promoting democratic values and encourages consultation and cooperation on defence
and security issues. Why? To build trust and prevent a conflict
- Military Way= committed to peaceful resolution of disputes. This only applies when diplomatic effort didn’t
worked.
- Signature and birth of the treaty on April 4 of 1949, meanwhile the Cold War was originating
Headquarters are located in Belgium. On 1991 NATO developed partnerships with former adversaries
after the break up of the Soviet Union
- Group of 24 (G-24)
- Interngovernal Group of Twenty-Four on International Monetary Affairs and Developmet or better
known as G-24 was established in 197. They meet twice a year
- The purpose is to coordinate the position of developing countries on monetary and development
issues, to ensure increased representation and participation of developing countries in negotiations
on the reform of the international monetary system
- operates at a political and operation level. In political level is formed of a Minister, Deputies,
Bureau and other Washington representatives.

make progress on nuclear disarmament.
- On 2016 at February 22 a statement was delivered by the Brazilian delegation expressing NAC’s
commitment to contribute substantively to nuclear disarmament efforts.

- It was established on October 1945, after the end of world war 2
- Their main objective is to promote cooperation between the countries, which now are 193.
- It is divided in six organs: General Assembly, Security Council, Economic and Social Council,
Secretariat, Court of Justice and Trusteeship Council.
- International organization for migration
- Established after second world war II
- It started with the purpose of giving living to all the people damaged during WWII.
- Nowadays it has 162 members and their main objective is to promote migration in an organized way and
also to provide information and services to countries and people who are planning to migrate.
- African Union
- This organization was re-established on July 2002 in South Africa. It came after the Organization of
African Unity, which was established since 1963.
- Is a continental union formed by 54 countries.
- Objectives: achieve unity and solidarity between the continent, defend sovereignty, encourage
international cooperation and to accelerate the economic and politic growth of the continent.
- Economic
- International Monetary Fund
- international organization created for the purpose of standardizing global financial relations and
exchange rates which lends money to governments to stabilize their currencies and keep order on the
financial markets.
- Created in 1945, the IMF is governed by 189 countries that make up its near-global membership. Its
Headquarters are on Washington, D.C. and its Executive Board is formed by 24 Directors each
representing a country or a group of countries
- World Trade Organization
- Established in 1995
- It has 162 member countries and its purpose is to promote international commerce.
- this organization came after it have the same functions from the General Agreement on Tariffs and
Trade (GATT), which came into force in 1948. One of the motivations for creating the GATT was a wish to
dismantle the barriers to trade that had been erected between the two world wars.
- Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development
- promotes policies that will improve the economic and social well-being of people around the world.
- provides a forum in which governments can find solutions work to common problems.
- It was established in 1961 and its formed by 35 countries, its headquarters is in Paris, France.
