- Group A = antigen A, anti-B.
- Group B = antigen B, anti- A
- Group AB = antigen A & B, no
antibodies
- Universal recipient
- Plasma is removed from the blood before it's
given to someone else.
- Antibodies are in plasma, antigens are on red blood cells
- Rhesus positive people have the antigen D
- Baby can pass this to mother in womb, so she might react with
her next rhesus positive baby, as she will have produced anti-D last time.
- To prevent transplant rejection immunosupressant drugs and
irradiation with x-rays is used.
