- Add Benedict's, heat to 80˚C. If
reducing sugar present, from
blue to brick red/orange-red

- Iodine solution
- If present it will turn from
yellow to blue-black
- Lipids
- Emulsion test
- Mix in ethanol. Pour into
water. If an emulsion
forms a lipid is present
- Non-reducing sugar
- Benedict's solution
- If reducing sugar
test is negative, boil
with hydrochloric
acid, cool and
neutralise with
sodium
hydrogencarbonate.
Repeat Benedict's
test.
