Zusammenfassung der Ressource
Group 1 - The Alkali Metals
- As you go down the metals become
more reactive
- the outer electron is
more easily lost as it is
further from the nucleus
- They have lower
melting and boiling
points
- Lithium, Sodium, Potassium,
Rubidium and Caesium
- all have one outer electron
- form ionic compounds with non-metals
- Keen to loose their outer
electron and become 1+
- produce white compounds that dissolve in
water to form colourless solutions
- React with water to produce hydrogen gas
- They float and move around the surface,
fizzing vigorously
- They form hydroxides that dissolve in
water to give alkaline solutions
- 2Na + 2H20
