  1. The Berlin Blockade
    1. 1948-1949
      1. 1. After WWII Germany was divided into 4 zones; Soviet, American, British and French.
        1. 2. America introduces the Deutschmark to west Germany and west Berlin.
          1. 3. Stalin wanted Germany to suffer so when he heard of the new currency that would help the economy, he closed off west Berlin; cutting off all railroads, canals and all roads.
            1. 4. Americans airlifted supplies into west Berlin, in operation Vittles. Meetings were held to keep spirits high. Stalin realised he couldn't win after 11 months, so he lifted the blockade.
