Behavioural Approach (Evaluation)
- Based on the principle that reinforced
behaviour will be repeated/non-reinforced

- Used to shape behaviour
- Easy to out into practice
- Relatively quick results
- Simple idea to understand
- Some techniques such as social skills
therapy may be empowering to the client
- Highly structured, following a step by step process
- Fails to address cause
- May be seen as
punishment
- Some may rebel against authority/being told what to do
- May not want/desire the reward
- May not consider what
people think/feel
- Not always easy to get someone to change their mind
- Could be seen as dehumanising- reducing behaviour to
simply responses to things that give/ reduce pleasure
