- An inference question
- Make at least 3 developed inferences
- Short response
- Question 2
- E.g. "What impression do we get...?"
"How can you tell that the author...?"
- 8 Marks
- 10 -15 mins max
- Fully explained answer
- Use Point, Evidence Explain
- Using evidence from the suggested source/s
- Question 3
- 10 Marks
- 15 mins max
- E.g. "How far do sources X, Y and Z suggest that..."
- Make a judgement (usually 'to some extent')
- Sources given will show different opinions
- Question 4
- 10 Marks
- 15 mins
- E.g. "Which of sources X, Y & Z would be more
useful to a historian finding out about..."
- Comment on the level of usefulness of the given sources
- Who produced it?
- When was it produced?
- What is it? Is it trustworthy?
- Why was it produced?
- Which is most useful to a historian?
- Focus more on the usefulness than the uselessness
- No source is totally useless or perfectly useful
- Question 5
- 16 Marks
- 20 mins + any leftover time
- + SPaG Marks
- Use good spelling, punctuation and grammar
- E.g. "How far do you agree with the statement..."
- A judgement question
- Make a judgement!
- Usually: "I agree to some extent..."
- Given a loaded statement
- E.g. "Science and technology was
the most important factor in
developing surgery."
- Use the suggested sources
- Use Point, Evidence, Explain
- Use your own knowledge!
- Please keep in mind I sat these exams in 2014, so check it still applies
to the modern curriculum before taking information for granted!
