Describe one similarity and one difference between Marxism and Functionalism. One similarity between Marxism and Functionalism is that they are both macro-sociological, structural theories. This means they both look at society as a whole and believe that society is made up of more than the individuals that live within it and emphasis the importance of social institutions and structures. One difference between Marxism and Functionalism is that Functionalism believe society is characterised by harmony and stability. They believe that harmony and stability is the only way that society can work and function effectively. On the other hand, Marxism believes society is characterised by conflict between classes. For example, the bourgeoisie and the proletariat. Marxism explains that the bourgeoisie are continually oppressing the proletariat.
