NATURE OF SLEEP 5 STAGES of sleep 5 sleep CYCLES between each cycle -> experience NREM sleep-> then REM during NREM -> 4 STAGES -> progresses to (STAGES 1 and 2) into DEEP or SLOW -WAVE sleep (STAGES 3 and 4) RAPID EYE- MOVEMENT (REM) sleep = experienced several times -> during night= produce intense electrical activity

Stage 1 and 2 Light sleep and CHANGE- ELECTRICAL ACTIVITY IN BRAIN part of the brain which is AWAKE= produces BETA WAVES changes to ALPHA and THETA waves HEART RATE SLOWS and TEMPERATURE DECREASES SLEEPER= in RELAXED STATE = easily woken
