Aims of GCSE Religious Studies Specifications This unit will provide students with the opportunity to:develop their knowledge, skills and understanding of religion by exploring the significance and impact of beliefs, teachings, sources, practices, ways of life and forms of expressing meaning;express their personal responses and informed insights on fundamental questions and issues about identity, belonging, meaning, purpose, truth, values and commitments.Religious studies has a special status within the 14-19 curriculum and is statutory subject at KS4. At St Michael's it forms part of the core curriculum and is studied by all Year10 and Year11 girls to GCSE level. Students begin work on GCSE Religious Studies towards the end of Year 9.We hope that the knowledge you gain will nourish and strengthen your faith, equipping you with the right attitudes and skills such as research, analysis, logic and reasoning, evaluation and creativity. These will assist you in your future years to make decision of moral importance and have a wealth of information and knowledge at your disposal.
