The word library comes from the latin ward "liber " meaning book.the library means, collection of written and printed or digital reading materials organized provide different services to the user with the help of the trained staff.According to Dr .S.R. RANGANATHAN  library is a public institution or establishment charged with the care of collection of books,  duty  of making them accessible to those who require the use of them.And the task of converting every person in the neighborhood into the habitual library  goers and reader of books.TYPES OF LIBRARIES:national library; The mission is to preserve the cultural hertiage of the nation.example national library of india, kolkata. public library:The free informational and recreational institution.Its mission is to provide reading materials to people without any fee.Academic libraries:the libraries that are attached with the educational institution s are known as academic libraries.Its mission is to help the students ,researchers , faculties in their study or research.The primary mission is to support the educational and research need  of the parent institution.these libraries may be of following type.1. school libraries2.college libraries3.university librariesspecial libraries : Libraries attached to spl institutions that i.e. industrial firm ,insurance company , all india radio,doordarshan kendra,etc.,belong to the category.Their aim support the parent organization.
