Page 1the first three bars are the introduction and a fanfare, polyphonic and overlapping, a broken chord is used to build anticipationin bars four to six the leitmotif begins, the rhythms are syncopated, the triplets stand out giving the piece a faster feel, the trumpet part uses octaves and is chromatic as well as using many perfect 5ths which show a heroic shift in the piece, there are also some perfect cadencesin bars seven to eleven there are some semiquaver triplets giving the piece an uplifting feel
Page 2 and 3the middle section begins, there is a different melody and the triplets in the horn stop and are replaced with chords giving the piece a slower more relaxed feelin bar 28 there are accidentals, it's chromatic and there is dialogue between the trumpet and hornsin bars 30 to 35 there is a key change and semi-quaver triplets in all parts giving the piece a faster feel and octaves are used to make the piece sound dramatic and as if it were building up to something
Page 4in bars 36 to 38 a hexatonic scale is used, less notes are used, there is a piccolo solo and slurs are used to make the whole section feel flowers and more relaxedin bars 39 to 41 all of the instrument come back in, the violins and timpani's play in homophony and come down an octave and play staccato and chromatically to sound like a build up/lift off, the trombone is not held and has a lower pitch rage, it has an overall thicker texture and towards the end has a crescendo building up to the outro
Page 5this page is the outro, it uses major triads to sound complete and final as well as being chromatic and using harmonies. There is a metre change and use of triplets to make the piece sound like a march and drive it forward. The timpani's and violins play in homophony for dramatic effect and an increase in volume. at the beginning stabs are irregular but towards the end they are on the beat to show that the piece is ending and to tie it all up.
