“Without application in the world, thevalue of knowledge is greatlydiminished.” Consider this claim withrespect to two areas of knowledge. To what extent does time affect the value of knowledge? To what extent does new technological advances diminish knowledge? Is there knowledge that throughout time can be forgotten?I consider this an interesting tittle because:It makes me question what happens to theknowledge that I acquire yet I don'tfrequently use.All the knowledge that I have found useless through out my school life, will itever become useful and will I apply it in the future? It makes me question whether there's knowledge thats dosn't havean applicationIndigenous Knowledge SystemsIn my trip to Ciudad Perdida, the indigenous tribe we worked with and spent time withwas the Arahuacos. They were constantly licking a stick that went inside a container. We later learned that the container was a "poporo" and what they extracted from theinside was limestone with coke. This ancient habit comes with medicinal porpuses; itmaintains them warm in the high altitudes they are exposed to,keeps them warm andputs them in contact with their spiritual ancestors.FAITH: Indigenous tribesbelieves it works, and helpthem connect with theirspirit ancestors. If theybelieve in it they continuedoing it.MEMORY: It is a legacy that has remained forthousands of years. It is in their ancestors livesand shall continue to prevail within theirculture.MathsI have worked with algebra and their concepts; letters and other generalsymbols are used to represent numbers and quantities in formulas andequations. Through the same equations and formulas that has been usedfor years, we are able to make our daily life easier and with more sense.LANGUAGE: Through language most ofthe knowledge that has been acquired formillions of years, it has been able to passit on to generations.MEMORY: (Counterargument) Even thoughirreplaceable knowledge was lost, people stillhad memory of what was inside the libraryand could help recover some of theknowledge lost.Even though this has been used for centuries and hasproven to maintain body heat and hunger, people don'thave this in mind in their medical knowledge it still works, just people have new medicines and ways of treating it.The same methods and equations has prevailed for centuries andeven though new knowledge can be introduced the same basis areused world wide. Eventhough new advances may make the processeasier, the process prevails.New knowledge is introduced and acquired every day, still someknowledge seems it has lost value since it is not used anymore or rarelyused. This doesn't mean that that the knowledge has lost its real value.Knowledge, no matter from which area it come from, has advanced andcome up with new perspectives and theories, nevertheless, the priorknowledge people seem to perceive as "unvaluable" are the bases ofevery advance that is seen as the real valuable knowledge. The indigenous medicine was one of the first, if not the first to encounterwith human wellbeing. Plants and natural resources they used to heal arenow being modified with new chemical knowledge, still it has the sameresult. Some knowledge hasn't been modified greatly, mathsprocedures still are the same as centuries ago. Now a days wefind it easier and easier to perfom every day tasks thnks to thisknowledge. Some knowledge has not changedand we still use methods ourancestors used.Doppelklick auf diesen KnotenKlicke und ziehe diese Schaltfläche, um einen neuen Knoten zu erstellen
