AQHA SHOW APPROVAL is a privilege, not a right, granted or rejected at AQHA’s discretion on an annual basis according to continuous evaluation of the applicant, including, but not limited: competence of show management, enforcement of AQHA rules, quality of show, and service to AQHA members.

Approval for a previously held show with priority dates does not carry over from year to year and must annually be obtained for each individual show.
To obtain approval for a previously held show with priority dates, a show application for approval must be (1) properly completed in its , (2) accompanied by the non-refundable application for fee, (3) submitted and received at least days prior to the first date of the proposed show in order to be published in issues of The American Quarter Horse Journal, and (4) accompanied by a list of all classes, whether or not all of the classes are limited to AQHA-registered horses and a proposed of classes.
Shows which move onto a holiday, due to the normal calendar roll, resulting in conflict with an existing holiday show, will be required to move dates.
Priority dates are a privilege that can be sold or transferred from one sponsoring body or management to another.
Special events, introductory shows, Versatility Ranch Horse shows and Equestrians with Disability shows do NOT retain priority dates from year to year.

Any show that does not offer the required halter/performance halter class in the open division will not have it's results recognized.
If a Level 2 (intermediate/progressive) entries is necessary to distribute all points, at the judge's discretion, exhibitors may be required to work the arena both ways.
The novice class must be held prior to the corresponding youth/amateur class if it's the same judge, with the exception of pattern classes at show management's option.
