Introducción
El debate que sobre la calidad de la educación apareció en la década de
los noventa, continúa siendo crucial y palpitante. Mientras esas políticas quieren normalizar todos los procesos teniendo en cuenta una escuela ideal,
los profesores, que enfrentan las enormes dificultades diarias con sus
alumnos, así como quienes investigan en y con la escuela, se encuentran con que esa escuela ideal no existe.
El debate sobre la formación de profesores
Se debe partir del principio de que nadie enseña lo que no sabe; sin embargo, es claro que debe saber mucho más que
solo aquello que va a enseñar, es decir, que el profesor de matemáticas
debe tener una sólida fundamentación en la disciplina, es algo que no
admite discusión, sin embargo, surge la pregunta ¿es suficiente con que el
profesor tenga un amplio dominio de los contenidos disciplinares? Para los matemáticos, la respuesta a esa pregunta es afirmativa; si el profesor
domina los contenidos, lo demás se aprende con la práctica.
Algunos elementos teóricos
el currículo es un intento que se hace
para determinar los principios y aspectos esenciales de una propuesta
educativa, de tal forma que esté abierta a la crítica y pueda ser trasladada
efectivamente a la práctica.
Interpretando la intención de Stenhouse,
cuando se habla de currículo se involucran aspectos como: fines, propósitos, contenidos temáticos, métodos, organización de actividades del profesor y de los estudiantes dentro del sistema escolar, evaluación permanente
como proceso investigativo –abierto a la crítica–, formación del profesor,
estrategias didácticas y selección de materiales, entre otros.
Un modelo pedagógico para la formación de profesores de matemáticas
Para puntualizar en las características del Modelo Pedagógico Gradual
Investigativo (MPGI), se deben considerar primero los componentes:
contenidos, docente y estudiante (Triángulo Didáctico), y evaluación,
como estrategia transversal de cualificación permanente, y segundo, los
momentos y énfasis de formación.
• Los contenidos. El MPGI asume el currículo como un objeto de investigación en permanente dinámica a través de la reflexión crítica sobre la práctica, es decir, a partir de la
praxis. Para lo anterior se supone que los contenidos no son objetos de consumo, ni objetos de apropiación, sino objetos de comprensión, reflexión, conjeturación y consenso.
• El docente. En este modelo el profesor es un guía crítico y
generador de ambientes apropiados, comprometido con el
aprendizaje de sus estudiantes, con su crecimiento personal y con
la transformación de la concepción y la acción de su docencia, de
la institución escolar y, en general, de la sociedad.
Momentos y énfasis de formación
Momento uno (de ubicación): Sobresale el énfasis en el desarrollo
personal; se plantea especialmente para los dos primeros semestres.
Esta etapa se centra en la formación integral del estudiante, para lo cual
el profesor intenta por todos los medios identificar sus necesidades
y deficiencias y busca que exprese sus inquietudes sobre los saberes
disciplinares y fundantes. El currículo es pensado como el conjunto
de contextos, ambientes, unidades y acciones a través de los cuales los
estudiantes generan sus conocimientos. Es un momento en donde el
estudiante debe convencerse de que el conocimiento no existe fuera del
que aprende, por lo tanto, él debe tomar parte activa.
Consideraciones finales
Si bien es cierto que definir un modelo pedagógico para un programa
es una tarea compleja, la mayor dificultad estriba en llevarlo a la acción
y hacer que funcione, pues para ello se deben enfrentar diversos
factores, tanto externos como internos. Los factores de orden externo se
convierten en exigencias y desafíos, tanto para cualquier programa como
para la educación superior en general.
