Causes of the 1917 February Revolution

Economic Situation
-Inflation increased by 400% 1914-17
-War debts of up to 8 million roubles
-Owes a lot to France
-Gap between wages and food prices
-45% of economy was spent on the army and only 55% on the empire

Political Situation (Opposing the Tsar)
-Duma reassembled in 1915, critical of Tsarist regime
-Tsarina appoints Boris Sturmer, rumoured to be Pro-German
-Progressive Bloc formed (Kadets, Octoberists, Nationalists, Industrialists)
