An information system (IS) is an organized system for the [blank_start]collection[blank_end], organization, [blank_start]storage[blank_end] and [blank_start]communication[blank_end] of [blank_start]information[blank_end].

Three main components of an information system are [blank_start]technology[blank_end], [blank_start]people[blank_end] and [blank_start]process[blank_end].

Technology component consists of [blank_start]software[blank_end], [blank_start]hardware[blank_end] and [blank_start]data[blank_end].

A computer is an electronic device operating under the control of [blank_start]instructions[blank_end] stored in its own [blank_start]memory[blank_end].

An information system is the study of [blank_start]networks[blank_end] that people and [blank_start]organizations[blank_end] use to collect, [blank_start]filter[blank_end], [blank_start]process[blank_end], create and [blank_start]distribute[blank_end] data.

Computer memory consists of electronic [blank_start]components[blank_end] that store [blank_start]instructions[blank_end] waiting to be executed and the [blank_start]data[blank_end] needed by those instructions.

A computer keeps [blank_start]data[blank_end], [blank_start]instructions[blank_end], and [blank_start]information[blank_end] on storage media.

A [blank_start]storage[blank_end] device [blank_start]records[blank_end] (writes) and [blank_start]retrieves[blank_end] (reads) items to and from storage media.
